Wetzlar

Braunfels was not accessible by train, so we rode a bus for 40 minutes from the Wetzlar train station.  On the return trip we decided to get off in Wetzlar's center and walk to the train station as Tyler and Wanling said they couldn't take the bus ride one minute more - they were getting ill from riding up and down the hills, winding through the teeny little streets of the teeny little towns in an overly heated bus.  This was an excellent idea, as the city was one we wanted to check out, and it was truly lovely.  We wandered, did a little shopping (Gary found a coffee cup, Wanling and Tyler found a toy store), we walked along (yet another) flooding river...this was becoming a reoccurring theme.  We got back to the train station just as the rain started, so we sat back and enjoyed the luxury of train travel and headed back to Frankfurt after another day's adventure.

Gary is gleeful because this toy store is closed (but Wanling and Tyler snooped out another very shortly).

This cathedral was wild - but in many eras, with no attempt to match architectural styles and stone.  We couldn't quite figure it out.
 A gargoyle doing its thing....
